Student Quotes
"I rode the train home scribbling ideas in a notebook. The next morning I got up and wrote another chapter of an easy-reader book I'm experimenting with. As I wrote, I thought about all I'd learned in class about character development, believable dialogue, confict and resolution, and making the whole thing interesting to a youngster. I can't think of a better investment of my time than to spend a Saturday in this class!"

Character Development
Characters are the heart of every story. Their actions drive the plot. Their individuality is what readers or audiences most remember. It’s a daunting challenge—crafting seemingly real people out of mere words. But if you can create dimensional characters, you’ll be well on your way to writing a story that is believable, compelling, and perhaps even unforgettable.

In this One-Day, you’ll discover characterization techniques that you can apply to fiction, nonfiction, screenplays, teleplays, or stage plays. Through lectures, script analysis, and exercises, you will learn how to find characters, flesh them out, make them fascinating, and bring them to vibrant life on the page.
